Week 3_Masterplan, Demolition Plan

Demolish parts of library faced to La Trobe St for public space linked to RMIT. This large area can have seperated functions ------ green space for seats with canopies, cafe or restaurant.
Create external staircase or circular ramp in front of the Redmond Berry reading room for climbing up to see the dome.
Continue demolishing to Little Lonsdale St for courtyard with children playground. Also, move children quarter to one connected children playground.
Enhance transparency of Russell St. Demolish part of external walls for larger opening and continue the walkway to courtyard.
Create direct access between La Trobe St and Little Lonsdale St to connect city blocks.

Large public space in front of the dome has two green spaces for seats with canopies or simple spaces just for rest similar to existing green space.
Create curved cafe faced to La Trobe St and RMIT so that students can have meal here.
Create small gym or first aid room near the North Rotunda. It is at entry and open to public so it is convenient for surrounding community.
Create curved children quarter and change the form of original Arts Reading Room to fit it. And original Arts Reading Room is changed to be lecture theatre, which has additional entry from Little Lonsdale St. It is semi-open.
Change parts of external walls of South East Wing to fit to lecture theatre as well and it will be Arts Reading Room.
Create three small courtyards on the walkway inside the library. Two Circle ones are in children playground and children facility is between them.
